CAS partners with PNP-RTC Region 13 for a Lecture Series on Professional Development Services

On July 19-23, 2021, the Bachelor of Arts in English Language program under the College of Arts and Sciences collaborated with the Philippine National Police – Regional Training Center Region 13 (CARAGA) for a five-day extension program lecture series on Professional Development Services via Zoom.  It intended to provide lecture-training sessions to the Police Executive Master Sergeants (PEMS) of the PNP CARAGA on effective professional development articulated in their coursework modules. BS Environmental Science Faculty Engages on Capability-Building for Developing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Materials

On November 10, 2021, a webinar-workshop on IEC materials development for the Solid Waste Information and Public Education (SWIPE) project of SSCT- BSES program in Barangay Taft was conducted. The SWIPE project targets the constituents of Barangay Taft and SSCT-BSES faculty in this capability-building activity in learning how to effectively develop IEC materials for awareness on solid waste management. CAS implements a training program for math school teachers on proof writing

The College of Arts and Sciences conducted a 3-day webinar on TEACHING ENHANCEMENT WORKSHOP ON PROOF WRITING AMONG DEPED- SCHOOLS DIVISION OF SURIGAO CITY MATHEMATICS TEACHERS last April 6 – 8, 2021 attended by 27 participants. The resource speakers were from the program of Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (BS Math), Ms. Irmalyn B. Paymalan and Mr. Ruel T. Buba. There were four (4) topics delivered: Theorems on Different Parallelograms; The Midline Theorem and Theorems on Trapezoids and Kites; Theorems on Similarity of Triangles; and The Pythagorean Theorem. CAS visits its community partner for “kumustahan” and donates active wears for youth

On July 6, 2021, the College of Arts and Sciences conducted a short extension program to the Barangay Taft, a CAS partner-beneficiary. The event was conducted in the Barangay Hall with the presence of Barangay Captain Pablo A. Bonono, Dr. Annabelle N. Diaz (Program Chair, AB-EL), Dr. Michelle T. Panganduyon (OIC, BS-Math), Mr. Jerry T. Cuadrado (Program Chair, BS-ES) and Ms. Princes Grace A. Retita (CAS Extension Coordinator). CAS Conducts Professional Training to In-Service Secondary School Teachers

On April 25-29, 2019, the program of Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (BS-Math) under the College of Arts and Sciences in collaboration with other programs: Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics (BSEd-Math) and Master in Mathematics Education (MA-Math Ed.), partnered with the DepEd Division of Surigao City. On September 1, 2020, the CTE Faculty-Extensionists, under the deanship of Dr. Leonielyn Malicay, successfully conducted the initial phase of the Community Extension Project called “Building New Literacies.” The group of extensionists from CTE first went to Balite NHS to pay courtesy call to the School Principal of Balite NHS, Mr. Alberto Orias, Jr. After a short meeting, the group went to the Mamanwa Community in Brgy. The CTE faculty, under the leadership of Dr. Leonielyn Malicay, Dean of CTE, gathered on August 27, 2020, to prepare for the initial phase of the implementation of their Community Extension Project called “Building New Literacies.” The project is intended to address academic difficulties and build 21st Century literacies of Mamanwa learners attending Balite NHS, and their parents and their teachers.
